Miguel Oliveira went to the box and gave up the French GP. What happened?
Escape problem led to the abandonment of the Portuguese driver.

Miguel Oliveira was preparing to achieve a good result at the French MotoGP Grand Prix. After starting from 12th place on the grid, the Portuguese rider was in 8th position when he felt that something was wrong with his Aprilia RS-GP.
On lap 16 of the Grand Prix held at the Le Mans circuit, the Portuguese rider was forced to retire to the pits with a problem that he later explained was caused by the motorcycle's exhaust. A problem that Miguel Oliveira detected in the early laps.
"I continued with this problem for another 10 laps, but at one point it was already interfering with the performance and the way the electronics managed the engine brake and power delivery," said the Portuguese rider, in statements to the Trackhouse Racing press office.
Miguel Oliveira stressed that the retirement came to avoid further damage to the motorcycle.
"At that time I didn't know what it was, but from the sound, I could tell it was something related to the exhaust. The team is still investigating and, together, we will see what needs to be done so that it doesn't happen again in the future," assured the 29-year-old rider.
