Pierre Gasly will use a special helmet in Imola to pay tribute to Ayrton Senna, who died 30 years ago on the Italian circuit. Before the race weekend, the French driver had a unique opportunity that he did not miss: driving the Brazilian star's first car in Formula 1.
Gasly sat behind the wheel of the Toleman TG183B and enjoyed the experience at Silverstone.
"I don't remember such an incredible experience. Driving Senna's first Formula 1 car exceeded all my expectations," said the Alpine driver.
"I had never been in a racing car older than me and the purity of driving was incredible – just three pedals and a simple steering wheel, very different from what I'm used to in a modern Formula 1 car. It was a once-in-a-lifetime episode that I will never forget. Very, very special," he added.
