"In 2024, the year in which the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution is celebrated, everyone is called to celebrate April, by participating in a commemorative program, which aims to strengthen democracy, highlighting some of the main achievements resulting from a date that started a path of manifest social, cultural and economic transformations", highlights the Chamber.

In a press release sent to the Lusa agency, this municipality in the district of Coimbra considers that the "vast and diversified" program was prepared in conjunction with the Municipal Assembly of Figueira da Foz and is aimed at audiences ranging from preschool to senior citizens.

At Esplanada Silva Guimarães and Casa do Paço, April 25, 1974 will be portrayed through the lens of the photographer from Figueira da Foz Jorge Dias, who at the time was a militia sergeant, who served in the former Heavy Artillery Regiment (RAP 3).

This exhibition shows the city's participation in the actions that led to April 25 and a whole set of demonstrations synonymous with the freedom that was conquered.

The Santos Rocha Municipal Museum hosts the exhibition "50 Years, 50 Objects, 50 Artists", which results from an appeal that the National Arts Plan made to all schools in the municipality, to collect objects with special meaning referring to April 25 in a family environment.

The exhibition includes visits by students and a gathering where the owners of the objects will be invited to tell their story, which will then be included in a catalog.

The Pedro Fernandes Tomás Municipal Library will feature the exhibition "Minute Zero: The Regime Will Fall", using the municipality's documentary and photographic collection to recount the most relevant moments experienced in Figueira da Foz, in the early hours of April 25, 1974 and days following the military revolution.

On April 23, about 500 students from grouped and non-grouped schools in Figueira da Foz, as well as from the Professional School (INTEP) will attend a live concert commenting on, singing "Intervention Music".

The show will take place at the Center for Arts and Shows and will be performed by students from the David Sousa Conservatory of Music in Figueira da Foz and the Artistic School of the Conservatory of Music of Coimbra.

The following day, the Bandstand, in the Municipal Garden, will host the musical show by Cuca Roseta, who will sing emblematic songs of April.

The solemn session of the Municipal Assembly will take place on the morning of April 25, while in the afternoon the Center for Arts and Shows will host the "Symphony for Peace", by the conductors Francisco Manuel Relva Pereira (Portugal, Makris Charalampos (Greece), Francisco José Rosal Nadales, (Spain), Ilio Volante (Italy), José Perales (Mexico) and Cristiano Barros (Portugal).

The show will feature the participation of singers Diogo Pinto (Portugal) and Carolina Móran (Mexico) and the music bands of Lares and Santana.

"Everyone to the Manifest and April Garden" is the name of the initiative scheduled for April 26, which includes the participation of schools in the municipality of Figueira da Foz.

It includes a procession, installation of carnations made by students in the Garden and a concert by students from the David de Sousa Conservatory, in Praça da Europa.
