Bragança Theatre highlights local artists in the coming months
The Municipal Theatre of Bragança (TMB) will have an agenda "very focused on openness to the local artistic community" during the next three months, said today the director, João Cristiano Cunha, in the presentation of the programme from May to July.

"We have the open theater, where the three school groups [in the municipality] and the Higher Education School of the Bragança Polytechnic Institute come to show their work. We have three festivals of tunas and two shows of the Conservatory of Music and Dance of Bragança, which, like TMB, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year", João Cristiano Cunha listed for the journalists.
In total, there will be 29 shows, ranging from urban dances to traditional music, also involving the International Meeting of Choirs and the presence of The Gift.
The theater also has an agenda outside its doors. Cristiano Cunha highlighted the section "The artist goes to school", previously done during the artistic residencies of "Café Duplo", a project in partnership with the Convent of São Francisco, in Coimbra, following the intimate register, which remains in the theater's agenda.
For the vice-president of the municipality of Bragança, Fernanda Vaz Silva, responsible for the culture department, this "is an important complement for consolidating the public and for children and young people to perceive the theater as a space for culture and learning", she explained, adding that, in addition to schools, the theater wants to include, with the programming and activities, the rest of the community in the region.
The director of TMB also highlighted a workshop on urban dances, with Catarina Pinto, from Bragança, scheduled for May 18, and the "Adélia Project", composed of local artists, linked to traditional music, which performs the day before.
On June 8, the XVII International Meeting of Choirs takes place, with children's and youth choirs, the host being the Coral Brigantino Infanto-juvenil.
"As long as there is quality, I always find it interesting to give our artists a stage. We will have a set of 29 shows, 12 of which are for the local community, four with double performances. We have a great diversity, both in terms of audience and proposals", emphasized João Cristiano Cunha.
On July 6, the celebrations of TMB's two decades of existence continue.
After inaugurating the "wall of fame" in January, with 20 messages collected since 2020, when the theater started to have an artists' book, this time the celebration of the ephemeris will be done "outside and in an emblematic place" of the city, the castle.
"We will have the 'Historical Choir' with The Gift. Admission is free", revealed João Cristiano Cunha.
In the presentation of the agenda for May, June and July, it was also revealed that, between January and April, TMB accounted for 35 shows, in 44 sessions, mobilizing a total of 8,545 spectators, with an average of 88% occupancy.
The complete program until July is now available for consultation, and the tickets went on sale today, in person or online.
