Nemo, who won the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest last Saturday, explained how he broke the contest's trophy… minutes after receiving it from the 2023 winner, Loreen.

Nemo represented Switzerland with 'The Code' and gave the country its first victory since 1988, when Céline Dion won with 'Ne partez pas sans moi'.

"I was singing on stage and, at the end, I see the trophy in the right corner. At the end, I wanted to hold the trophy in front of the camera, so I lifted it", Nemo began by explaining, at a press conference after returning to Switzerland.

"When I put it down, it broke. The trophy just broke. So I left it there and, two minutes later, I thought it was super funny and I wanted to pick it up and I cut myself on the trophy. I got some deep cuts", he added.

"I broke the code and I broke the trophy", he joked, referring to the lyrics of his song, where he says "I broke the code".

Nemo had already referred to the incident at a press conference after the victory, when he revealed that he had to take the non-binary pride flag hidden to the contest. "I broke the code and I broke the trophy. Maybe the trophy can be fixed. Maybe Eurovision also needs a little fix", he said.
