The creator of "As Baleias" will perform on September 19, at the Coliseu Micaelense, in Ponta Delgada, and, in October, on the 4th he will perform in Lisbon and, on the 6th, in Braga.

In a statement, the promoter Everything is New indicated that the information about the venues will be available on Thursday, at 13:00. Tickets will also be put on sale at that time.

The singer, 83, has performed regularly in Portugal, where he debuted in 1966, at a time when his songs "O Calhambeque", "Parei na Contramão and "Pega Ladrão" were successful.

The shows in Portugal are part of the European tour, when the musician has 70 albums and more than 150 million copies sold, according to the promoter.

Born in the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo, it was in Rio de Janeiro that he began his career in bands such as The Sputnicks and The Snakes, this one alongside Erasmo Carlos (1941-2022), who would become his preferred songwriting partner.

In 1959 he recorded his first 'singles' and his first album, "Splish Splash", was released in 1961.

In the 1960s, with Erasmo Carlos, he presented the television program "Jovem Guarda", which featured young talents. The name of the program gave the title to his 1965 album.

At the end of the 1960s he bet on the international expansion of his career, with regular performances in the cinema, and it was when he debuted in Portugal, having, shortly after, won, with Sérgio Endrigo, the Italian festival of San Remo, with "Canzonne per Te".

In the 1970s he presented the show "Roberto Carlos a 200km por hora" at Canecão, in Rio de Janeiro, where he was on the bill for three months.

In the following decade, confirmed as a great star of Brazilian music, he made major tours of Brazil, whose schedule included, in 1986, four performances at the Maracanã Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro, which brought together more than 100,000 people, having also performed at Radio City Music Hall, in New York.

Throughout his career Roberto Carlos, in addition to Portuguese, recorded in Spanish and English, guaranteeing international audiences.

To mark his 50 years of career in 2009, he made a tour of 50 concerts in Brazil where he performed for more than 700,000 people, having closed at the Maracanã Stadium.
