"A-PV Stories: Meeting with Cinema Friends" is a Cinetendinha initiative, promoted by programmer and journalist Rui Pedro Tendinha, which proposes to "celebrate A-PV and learn more about his stories and his films", as can be read in the statement released today.

The session will be attended by actors who worked with the director in films such as "Call girl", "Os imortais" and "Os gatos não têm vertigens", such as Soraia Chaves, Joaquim de Almeida, Maria do Céu Guerra and João Jesus, not forgetting the testimony of Ana Zanatti, who co-starred in "O lugar do morto", or the filmmaker's "many friends".

According to the announcement of the meeting, "several generations will bear witness to the long career of one of the founders of the Portuguese New Cinema".

"Friends, actors, producers, family, everyone has stories about this great filmmaker, a man who also loved stories and causes. It will be a night of good memories, because many people loved this man", says Rui Pedro Tendinha, quoted in the statement from Chapitô.

Born in Leiria on March 10, 1939, António-Pedro Vasconcelos died on March 6.

He was a director, producer, film critic and teacher, and founded the Portuguese Film Centre, as indicated in the biography on the Portuguese Film Academy website.

He signed several box office hits, such as "O lugar do morto" (1984), "Jaime" (1999), "Os imortais" (2003) and "A Bela e o Paparazzo" (2010).

António-Pedro Vasconcelos was also a columnist and television commentator, namely on the programme "Trio d'Ataque", on RTP.

Another area of intervention of the director was in the Associação Peço a Palavra, which he directed and through which he publicly fought against the privatisation of TAP.

In his latest project, the documentary series "A Conspiração", which RTP1 has been showing on Monday evenings, he addresses "everything that was behind the 'Carnation Revolution', with testimonies from the protagonists who prepared the military revolt", as can be read in the synopsis of the work.

When António-Pedro Vasconcelos died, the 25th April Association referred to the filmmaker as a "civilian of April", recalling that he also directed the documentary "A voz e os ouvidos do MFA", "a work that opened the doors to his knowledge and passion about 'how we got to 25th April 1974'".

"A Conspiração" is one of António-Pedro Vasconcelos' last projects, along with the film adaptation of "O Lavagante", an unfinished work by the writer José Cardoso Pires.

In March, producer Paulo Branco revealed that he would complete the film project, postponing the announcement of who would direct it.

In 2022, in an interview with Lusa, António-Pedro Vasconcelos said that "O Lavagante" was a film that he was interested in making "because it has a great conflict and helps young people to understand what fascism was".

"It is a film that is in a certain way harder on what the dictatorship was. I took the story, Cardoso Pires' family agreed to let me make the adaptation", explained António-Pedro Vasconcelos.
