Until June 16, 350 pavilions, with 960 publishing brands, represented by 140 participants, will have 85 thousand titles available for sale to the public, to which they will add various initiatives, including autograph sessions, talks with writers, music or outdoor cinema shows.

Among the highlights for today, there is the meeting of authors 'African Poetry', with Conceição Lima, Ana Paula Tavares, João Melo and Ondjaki, and a conversation around the book "Oriente Próximo", with Alexandra Lucas Coelho, Shadd Wadi and the special participation of Dima Akram.

Fernando Aramburu, Jean-Baptiste Andrea, Jeferson Tenório, Joël Dicker, Leila Slimani and Michael Cunningham are some of the international authors who will visit the fair, joining names in national literature such as Afonso Cruz, António Jorge Gonçalves, Hugo Gonçalves, Joana Bértholo, João Tordo and Lídia Jorge, among many others.

This year's edition of the Lisbon Book Fair reached its maximum capacity, with 10 more pavilions and two new squares, and it will not be possible to extend it further in the coming years, the president of the Portuguese Association of Publishers and Booksellers (APEL), responsible for organizing the event, told Lusa.

One of the novelties this year is the strong focus on accessibility for people with reduced mobility, thanks to a protocol signed with Access Lab (a company that works on the issue of accessibility in Portugal, for the right to culture for people with disabilities) for the next three years.

In this edition, there will be more bathrooms with access for people with reduced mobility and there will also be changing rooms, in response to requests from families.

In addition, the ramps will be better signposted and there will be "very intensive training by Access Lab for both APEL staff and participants, so that they can provide adequate information to people with reduced mobility", specified the president of APEL, Pedro Sobral.

The programming part will also be more accessible, with a specific agenda of events with Portuguese sign language, and the existence of a color alphabet for colorblind people, which, among other things, helps people to find their way around the squares, which are defined by colors.

Another novelty is the anticipation of the opening hours of the fair, which will now open at 12:00 during the week, and at 10:00 on weekends and holidays.

The closing time remains at 10:00 pm, with the exception of Saturdays, Fridays and eve of holidays, when it closes at 11:00 pm.
