"Cristiano Ronaldo destroyed United and the next day he was sold"
Former Brazilian midfielder recalls his time at Sporting.

Fábio Rochemback does not forget the time when he left Barcelona to play for Sporting in the summer of 2003. The former Brazilian midfielder was on the podcast 'Um assado para...', on Tuesday, and recalled the few training sessions with Cristiano Ronaldo and the day when the young Portuguese star "destroyed" Manchester United.
"Being from Barcelona, you arrive at Sporting with a certain morale. I met Cristiano Ronaldo starting out there. I played with him. I left Barcelona and Quaresma did the opposite. Cristiano Ronaldo, in training, in Switzerland, in the pre-season, and he was flying. You could already see that he was a professional. The training... Focused", said Rochemback, before praising the role of Fernando Santos in the transfer to Sporting.
"I have always been respectful and I have been creating my identity. The person who took me there was Fernando Santos. He put me under his arm and I grew... My second home is in Portugal, at Sporting", he explained, before addressing the performance that took CR7 to Old Trafford.
"Cristiano? It was very fast for him. At the opening game of José Alvalade, in the pre-season, we played against Manchester United, we won and the next day he was sold. He destroyed the game. He scored a goal, played really well and the next week he was gone. I didn't play much with him, but he already showed everything. I got to play against him and he always showed great respect", recalled the former Brazilian player who completed a hundred games with the Sporting jersey.
