Overtaking in sight? Abel Ferreira 'sticks' to Palmeiras' record holder
Portuguese coach won the Paulistão and equaled Oswaldo Brandão at the top of the list of coaches with the most titles for the São Paulo club.

The Palmeiras won the Paulistão again this Sunday, after beating São Paulo (2-0, 2-1 aggregate), allowing Abel Ferreira to reach his tenth title since arriving in Brazil.
The Portuguese coach thus equaled the record holder Oswaldo Brandão as the coach with the most titles won by the São Paulo emblem, with special emphasis on the fact that he has already won two Libertadores (2020 and 2021).
In addition, Abel Ferreira won two Brazilian championships (2022 and 2023), one Brazilian Cup (2020), one Brazilian Super Cup (2023), three Paulista championships (2022, 2023 and 2024) and one South American Recopa (2022). All this in just four years.
It is worth remembering that Oswaldo Brandão, who died in 1989, coached Palmeiras on several occasions (1945-1948, 1958-1960, 1972-1975 and 1979), in addition to other adventures in clubs such as Corinthian, São Paulo, Portuguesa, Cruzeiro, Coritiba, Peñarol, Independiente and even the Brazilian national team.
