Pepe was once again sent off in a Liga Nos match, this Sunday, in FC Porto's defeat against Vitória SC (1-2), which was his 20th career sending off, in a total of 850 matches.

It all happened at the 70-minute mark when the Dragons' captain vehemently protested a decision by the refereeing team, near the sideline, ending up making a binocular gesture twice towards the referees, leading Fábio Veríssimo to intervene with a straight red card.

In this way, Pepe has now been sent off seven times in the Portuguese championship, equaling the competition's record, alongside Rui Jorge and Halliche, and it was his sixth red card while playing for FC Porto. This was the third time he has been sent off early this season, after having been the 'victim' of the same punishment in the Clássicos against Benfica (2-0) and Sporting (2-0).

It should be recalled that, in addition to the emblem of the Invicta city, the 41-year-old center back has also played for clubs such as Marítimo, Real Madrid, and Besiktas.
