In a statement, Serie A reports racist and anti-Semitic chants by fans of both clubs, before and during the match of the 31st round of the transalpine league, which the 'giallorossi' won 1-0.

According to Serie A, Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku was the target of "racial discrimination" by Lazio fans at three points during the match, and the same fans also uttered anti-Semitic insults against their opponents, something that is common among the most extremist fans of the 'Laziale' club, who call their opponents "Jews".

Similarly, Lazio's French midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi was also the victim of "racial discrimination" by Roma supporters.

On the other hand, Serie A also called for an investigation into the behaviour of Roma centre-back Gianluca Mancini, who scored the winning goal in the 'derby della capitale', and who at the end of the match held up two flags, one with the inscription "Anti Lazio" and another with the colours of the Roman rival (blue and white) and a rat.

Before the match, there were clashes between almost 200 Lazio fans and 100 Roma fans in the vicinity of the Stadio Olimpico, leading to the arrest of a 'giallorosso' fan.

This season has been rife with racist incidents in Italian football, one of which involved AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who in January was forced to leave the pitch at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, followed by his teammates.

The match was suspended for several minutes, following racist insults directed at Maignan by Udinese fans, and the club, which was punished with a game behind closed doors, would later ban one of the perpetrators of the insults.
