Abel Ferreira Surrenders to Palmeiras Fans' Gesture: "I Never Dreamed..."
Portuguese coach doesn't forget the tribute that preceded the most recent conquest of the Paulistão and emphasizes the obligation to "win" to remain in command of the Brazilian club's technical staff.

Abel Ferreira gave an interview to Channel 11, this Wednesday, about the debut of the Brasileirão, this weekend, just three days after winning another Paulistão at the service of Palmeiras, having praised the homage made by the fans even before the match against Santos (2-0, 2-1 aggregate).
"There is not much time to celebrate or cry over defeats. It is already in the past. I had to 'refocus' the athletes. There is already an important Libertadores game just around the corner. Here we do not stop. We only hold on here because we win, not because we are beautiful or because we are dressed in green. It is about winning. If I am away from my family and friends and it is not to win, I am not doing anything here and I will go back to Portugal," he began by saying.
"My players understand this mentality. They are great men. Our food is to train to reach the end and have the feeling of winning. What do they want to feel? Winning or losing? They are the ones who choose. It has everything to do with the competence of the players and the technical staff. There are people who confuse confidence with arrogance," he added.
"Talking about Brazil and Portugal, as Valdo knows both countries very well, despite being brother countries. It is related to edges that have to be filed. In Portugal, we are 10 or 11 million. In Brazil, there are already about 200 million. Just to give you a dimension of the thing. For me, in particular, the greatest title I won in Brazil was the recognition from Palmeiras fans. Having the Portuguese flag in the stadium, using a caravel to simulate the time of the Discoveries, as a tribute to the Palmeiras coaching staff, was my greatest title of the ten we won in Brazil. I never dreamed of being in a Brazilian stadium watching what I saw," he added.
