German magazine 11Freunde published an extensive report on Thursday about the FC Porto presidential elections, entitled "Who will tame the dragons", in which André Villas-Boas took the opportunity to respond to Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa.

The current president has repeatedly pointed the finger at the candidate, accusing him of having "other interests" in this race. However, the candidate himself guarantees that this is not true, especially since he believes that there are much more lucrative strategies for the club itself as far as the near future is concerned.

"I have no intention of selling shares in the club, because I even believe that there are more and better financing options (...). My opponent is the one who is selling part of FC Porto's heart, because he has just sold 30% of the commercial rights without even consulting the club members and just two months before the elections", he said.

"It is essential to invest in a good academy. A model that can provide more and more talent, combined with a performance office that follows the players until they reach the main team. The sale of these athletes will be crucial to ensure our financial sustainability", he added.

Finally, the coach downplayed the act of vandalism he was targeted with: "After the attacks on my collaborator and my house, the authorities decided that I should receive police protection. It is something that I do not want to overvalue, but that, at the same time, strengthens me and gives strength to my supporters".
