Messi out of Champions Cup as Inter Miami coach blames MLS
Gerardo Martino appeals for "relaxing the rules" so that North American clubs can go further in the competition.

Inter Miami returned, in the early hours of Wednesday to Thursday, to leave the duel with Monterrey defeated, this time, by 3-1, after the 'slip' committed at 'home', by 1-2, and is out of the Champions Cup (the CONCACAF Champions League).
The team of Argentine international Lionel Messi is thus away from the renewed Club World Cup, which starts in 2025. A circumstance that, according to the coach of the North American team, Gerardo Martino, is mainly due to MLS regulations.
"I maintain that, for this stage of the Champions Cup, the teams with the best squad in Mexican football qualified. I am talking about América, Monterrey and Tigres", he began by affirming, in statements reproduced by the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
"I do not include Pachuca, because the structure is based on young players. As long as the MLS does not ease the rules so that we have better squads and absences and injuries can be resolved more easily, there will be a disadvantage", he added.
