"A stronger Association of European Leagues will give more strength to the domestic leagues. It is also good news for professional football in Portugal", said Proença, quoted in a statement.

The president of the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) also congratulated himself on the fulfillment of one of the goals of his mandate, even though the changes will only be known at the time of the general assembly of the organization, on April 26, and must be approved there.

Today, the new governance model was 'passed' by the board of directors and, according to Proença, will "mark the beginning of a new era in the organization", giving it "more weight in the relationship with other European football entities, such as UEFA, the European Club Association and FIFPro".
