'Overwhelming' Benfica in the Azores sticks to FC Porto in the leadership of the League
Águias gave no chance to Lusitânia, with a triumph based on a 40-point difference.

A few hours after FC Porto's slip in Ovar, Benfica took the opportunity to get closer to their rivals in the leadership of the national basketball championship, this Saturday, with a 'spineless' triumph in the Azores, against Lusitânia (73-113).
The Eagles started stronger and, at the end of the first period, were winning by eight points (22-30), but quickly saw the Azoreans reach a draw in the second half (24-16) signaling a 46-46 at half-time.
Already in the second half of the match, Benfica was 'digging' distances from the very beginning and, after a comfortable third quarter (16-28), an unstoppable final period (11-39) followed, culminating in the final 73-113.
With this result, Benfica now shares the lead with FC Porto, with the same 36 points, two more than Oliveirense and Sporting. Lusitânia is last, with only 20 points won.
