The 69th minute of this Sunday's match between Estrela da Amadora and Rio Ave was marked by the serious injury of Diogo Fonseca. Following a move with Aziz, the central defender, on loan from Sp. Braga, fell on the pitch and immediately called for assistance.

The medical teams quickly entered the field to give first aid to the young man. With Miguel Lopes in tears, Diogo Fonseca ended up being taken off the pitch on a stretcher and transported to the hospital due to suspected severe ankle sprain.

The situation left all the players dismayed, with several athletes in tears after what happened. The match resumed and ended in a draw (2-2).

Shortly after the final whistle, Estrela da Amadora took to social media to leave a message of thanks for all the support given to the 22-year-old.

"With you Diogo. Special thanks to all the health professionals present, as well as to the Rio Ave staff for their promptness in assisting our athlete", can be read in the note from the Estrela players on the social network Instagram.
