AVB accuses Pinto da Costa of having led FC Porto "to financial ruin"
FC Porto presidential candidate assures that the club is "at a decisive moment in its stability and sustainability".

A candidate in the elections scheduled for April 27, the former coach argued that Pinto da Costa's continuity will lead the club "to financial ruin."
"FC Porto is in a decisive moment for its stability and sustainability. In the last 12 years, we have accumulated 250 million euros in liabilities. Every year, we have added losses to our accounts. FC Porto's governance models must be immediately redone, reformatted and obtain rigorous and careful management, budgetary discipline," Villas-Boas began by saying.
"If the president remained in the presidency, and also taking into account the people he is surrounded by, we could easily continue towards financial ruin. Therefore, I think we are no longer going there with make-up touch-ups of the teams and excusing ourselves with the departure of other directors who put FC Porto in the situation it is in today. Therefore, I think that all leaders must assume responsibilities, both in successes and in defeats. I, at least, have always guided my career that way as a coach and I think that any leader of an organization should also be like that," he continued.
"And responsibilities also count from the financial point of view, from the sustainability, from the growth of the club. And that is what we have not seen in recent years. Therefore, we have seen FC Porto losing competitive capacity. We have also seen an FC Porto that has not adapted structurally as its rivals have adapted. We have FC Porto in deficit in relation to women's sports, in its different categories and aspects. And all this is a reflection of a management that has stagnated over time. Hence, I think that the moment is absolutely now," he also stressed.
