Academic announces Jorge Simão's departure. Return to Bessa on the horizon
47-year-old coach close to succeeding Ricardo Paiva.

Jorge Simão may be returning to Boavista, after a first spell between 2017 and 2019, to succeed Ricardo Paiva, at a time when the Academico de Viseu has already formalized the departure of the 47-year-old coach, at the end of Tuesday afternoon.
According to information gathered by Desporto ao Minuto, the possibility of Jorge Simão returning to Bessa is real, but so far no agreement has been reached.
"The Academico de Viseu Futebol Clube - Futebol SAD hereby informs that coach Jorge Simão requested the early termination of his employment contract, with immediate effect, with the intention of embracing a new challenge. With great sensitivity to this situation, the Academico de Viseu welcomed this desire and request from the coach, and expresses its gratitude for the professionalism shown throughout his period in the service of our club", can be read in the statement from the Academico, which continues.
"Coach Jorge Simão will be accompanied by João Correia, Jorge Silva and Fábio Oliveira, whose contractual links also end, and to whom the Academico expresses its gratitude for their dedication. Until the end of the season, the team will be coached by the coaches who are part of the Academico structure: Cláudio Erasmo, Ricardo Janota and Gil Oliveira. The Academico de Viseu FC reiterates, firmly, its commitment to face the rest of the season with the utmost seriousness, commitment and determination. Good luck Mister!", can be read in the official note from the Viseu emblem.
It should be recalled that Boavista is going through a particularly delicate period, having not won in five games. Jorge Simão, in turn, leaves the Academico in 10th place in the II League, with 38 points, leaving Beira Alta with a balance of seven wins in 22 games.
