Schmidt explains why he didn't thank Benfica fans' support

Moments after Benfica's elimination in the Europa League 'quarterfinals', with the defeat on penalties (4-2) against Olympique Marseille (1-0, 1-1 on aggregate), Roger Schmidt was present at the press conference to analyze the match, this Thursday, and ended up being confronted with the fact that he had left the pitch without thanking the fans.
"I know what the players felt... I left [the pitch] because I was very disappointed. My players too. At these times there is not much to say", he began by saying.
"There is nothing that makes the moment less painful. For the players it will take a few days to deal with a defeat like this. It ended up being very frustrating", he added next.
It is recalled that, after a successful season, Roger Schmidt has faced several criticisms this season, due to the lack of results in domestic and European competitions.
