Jorge Simão: "I'm coming back to Boavista because I'm crazy. Crazy about football"

Boavista's new coach, Jorge Simão, assumed today that he is bringing "a bag of enthusiasm" in his return to the command of the 'axadrezados' and anticipates a "great fight" against Estrela da Amadora, on the 30th round of the I Football League.

The coach, who had already managed the Bessa team between 2017 and 2019, did not hide the enthusiasm with which he decided to take on the challenge of taking over the club five rounds before the end of the championship, at a time when it is only two points above the play-off access spot for maintenance.

"I am here, first of all, because I was invited. And, then, because I am crazy. Crazy about football. My enthusiasm for this life was reborn and Boavista's appeal was exciting for me. I did not want to know how many games were left," he explained, at the press conference previewing the reception to Estrela.

After leaving the 'secondary' Académico de Viseu, which, according to him, gave him back the joy of football, Jorge Simão now seeks to transmit his renewed state of mind to the players, admitting that he had to prioritize only "two or three game ideas" in the little training time available.

"What I bring, at this moment, is not a magic wand to do magic tricks. It is a suitcase full of enthusiasm. I do not know if enthusiasm will be enough to win games. Probably not. There are other things that will be necessary and that is what we will work on with the players every day," he guaranteed.

Even so, he believes that the squad has the necessary quality to fulfill the objective of remaining in the main echelon and believes that the recent crisis in results is mainly related to the mental forum.

"No one makes that start to the championship like Boavista did if they do not have quality in the players. No one makes that start of four wins in five games, one of them against Benfica. I think you need enthusiasm, to feel the energy of the Boavista universe again. Therefore, it is important to have a good home tomorrow [Saturday]," he appealed.

As for Saturday's opponent, a direct competitor in the fight for maintenance - the 'tricolores' have 28 points, compared to Boavista's 29 -, the coach expects a very disputed game, given the need for both teams to score points.

"Estrela da Amadora is another team that is in a difficult situation, just like us. The emotional part, obviously, will be important in this game, because there is already little room for the end. It will be a great fight, I have no doubt," he guaranteed.

Júlio Dabó, César and Luís Henrique are recovering from their respective injuries and should be out of Jorge Simão's options, in addition to the 'weight' absence of Sebástian Pérez, suspended for expulsion on the last round, against Arouca.

Boavista, 12th in the I League, with 29 points, will host Estrela da Amadora, 15th, with 28, at the Estádio do Bessa, starting at 6 pm on Saturday, with refereeing by João Pinheiro, from the Braga Football Association.
