Pinto da Costa on Zubizarreta and Jorge Costa: "I don't quite understand..."

After having already reacted to the elimination of FC Porto in the UEFA Youth League, this Friday, Pinto da Costa, president of the Dragons, was challenged to comment on the choices of Andoni Zubizarreta and Jorge Costa, by André Villas-Boas, for the positions of sporting director and football director, respectively, ending up by confessing not understanding the thinking of the candidate (and 'rival') for the presidency of the club.
"Jorge Costa is one of the symbols of FC Porto, he was an athlete who gave everything for FC Porto, for whom I have great esteem and appreciation. Let there be no doubt whatsoever (...) He distanced himself from FC Porto in terms of having interrupted his connection as a member. But last year he recovered the quotas for 14 years. Therefore, it is a sign that he wants to continue connected to FC Porto. And, I repeat, for me, as a person, as an athlete of the past, he is a person I admire very much. Now, if he is prepared...", he began by saying, in statements quoted in the newspaper O Jogo, on the sidelines of a dinner at Casa do FC Porto de Penafiel
"About Zubizarreta, what I know about him is that he was fired from Barcelona, he was fired from Marseille and since May 15, 2020, he has been unemployed. I do not understand very well how an individual who has this resume, who is unemployed and who no one has taken on, can come to FC Porto in a spirit of renewal. I do not understand. But it is not up to me to comment, because each one chooses their own", he stressed next.
"I think it is very risky for a team in which the candidate president has experience as a coach, the director has experience as a player and as a director, and the strongman, as he said, has been unemployed for four years and was fired from Barcelona and from Marseille and it was not for good things", he concluded.
