Rui Costa furious on the bench: Schmidt's dismissal on the table
Benfica's president believes that the German coach had the conditions to go further in the Europa League and continuity is being analyzed.

Roger Schmidt's future at Benfica will be under review until the end of the season. Despite having a contract for two more years, the continuity of the German coach is far from certain, also because president Rui Costa demands a reflection, advances the newspaper O JOGO, this Saturday.
The elimination in the Europa League, at the hands of Marseille, left the leader of the eagles furious in the stands of the Vélodrome, since the Europa League was the last objective in which Benfica only depended on itself to conquer.
According to the same publication, Rui Costa considers that Roger Schmidt had a squad capable of attacking all fronts, something that would end up not happening, with the revalidation of the champion title being almost a mirage.
The president of Benfica is not a special fan of ending projects ahead of time, but circumstances now require a period of reflection, which involves, above all, evaluating Schmidt's continuity for next season.
It should also be noted that a possible dismissal of the coaching team led by the German coach could cost Benfica's coffers more than 20 million euros.
