Manchester City boss insists he 'will not judge' players who miss big penalties

Pep Guardiola came to the defense of Bernardo Silva on Friday, after the Portugal international missed a penalty against Real Madrid that saw Manchester City eliminated from the Champions League. In a press conference ahead of the match against Chelsea, the Catalan coach said that "you have to have a lot of personality" to step up to the spot.
"In these kind of situations, the guys who take the penalties are heroes for me. The guys who take the ball and go there to take it, they can do whatever they want. You have to have a lot of personality to do that. Not all of them are able to do it," Guardiola began, continuing,
"So, he missed, it's missed. Sometimes you shoot in one way... I said to them to be convincing in what you are going to do. He decided to do it like this? OK. He missed it, but he didn't want to miss it. It happens. But to be there, with that responsibility in front of everyone and it happens? I will never judge it. Quite the opposite. I have a lot of respect," concluded the Manchester City coach.
Besides Bernardo Silva, it should be noted that Kovacic also missed a penalty in the shootout against Real Madrid.
