Cancelo reveals threats to his family: "They wished my daughter dead"
The Portuguese international guarantees that he understands the criticism regarding his sporting performance, but he makes a request in a "cruel world".

João Cancelo admitted, in an interview with ESPN, on Friday, that he is going through a particularly complicated period due to the constant threats that he and his family are being targeted with on social media.
"There are comments on Instagram wishing death upon my daughter who hasn't even been born yet. They wouldn't say it to my face, because we would have a problem, but in the comments they write whatever they want", Cancelo began by saying, continuing.
"It's a cruel world and you have to know how to live in it. Wishing death upon a baby is a very serious thing. People don't think that there is a person beyond the player that appears on television. We are human too. We are equal", lamented the Portuguese international.
João Cancelo also made a point of emphasising that he accepts criticism related to his sporting performance and pointed to the case of Rio Ferdinand.
"Ferdinand was a great player, but I am sure that he also made mistakes. We all make mistakes. But, of course, it is his job to analyse and he has the right to say what he thinks. I accept it. It is an opinion. Maybe the penalty I committed was childish, but football is like that and I accept that I will be criticised. Criticise me for my performances, I don't mind, but don't talk about my family", concluded the Portuguese full-back who is on loan from Manchester City to Barcelona.
