FC Porto 'beat' Sporting and wait to see what Benfica will do

Needing to react to the recent defeat against Ovarense, FC Porto defeated Sporting by 86-72, this Saturday, in the penultimate round of the regular phase of the national basketball championship, provisionally isolating itself in the lead, waiting for what Benfica will do against CD Póvoa, also this Saturday.

The dragons started slightly better and, at the end of the first period, they were winning by 23-17, in an advantage that would be shortened in the second quarter (18-22), resulting in the 51-49 on the scoreboard. The third period (26-22) once again went well for Fernando Sá's team, and it was in the fourth and final period (19-11) that Sporting ran out of any chance of getting ahead on the scoreboard, with the final 86-72. With this result, FC Porto now has 38 points in the provisional lead of the competition, awaiting the outcome of Benfica-Póvoa, this Saturday, while Sporting is third, with 35.
