Vitória SC guarantees a place in European competitions for the third consecutive season
Vitória SC today qualified for European competitions for the third consecutive season and for the 22nd time in its history, after securing at least fifth place in the 2023/24 edition of the Portuguese football league.

After reaching the third preliminary round of the Europa Conference League in the 2022/23 season and being eliminated in the second preliminary round of the same competition in the current season, the Vitorians secured another presence in UEFA competitions due to the results of Arouca, sixth place, and Moreirense, seventh, on the 30th matchday.
With the draw of the Arouquenses on the ground of Rio Ave (1--1), on Friday, and the home defeat of the neighbors of Moreira de Cónegos against Gil Vicente (1--0), the Vitorians have a 13-point advantage over Arouca and 14 over Moreirense, when each of these opponents has 12 points left to play.
On the eve of facing the leader Sporting, in Lisbon, for the 30th round, the Vitorians ensured that they will, at least, repeat their participation in the Europa Conference League during the 2024/25 season, in a phase in which they have 57 points and are two behind the third-placed FC Porto and the fourth-placed Sporting de Braga.
The Minho club will thus play in European competitions for the 22nd season, continuing a journey with 86 official matches, which began in 1969/70, with its presence in the extinct Fairs Cup.
Vitória achieved its best performance in the 1986/87 season, reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup, the predecessor of the Europa League, and participated in European competitions four consecutive times between 1995/96 and 1998/99.
