Manchester City beat Chelsea on Saturday to reach the FA Cup final, but not without intense criticism from Pep Guardiola, especially over the lack of rest time for his team.

Three days after losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League, the Citizens were called upon to play for a place in a final. And the Spanish coach railed against the short turnaround.

"It's unacceptable to make us play today. Coventry, Chelsea, Manchester United didn't play in midweek and they made us play today. Next week put us on Friday. Instead of Saturday, put us on Friday, to have a better recovery," he began by saying.

"For the health of the players. It's unacceptable. 120 minutes, the emotions from Madrid, the way we lost, honestly... I know the FA Cup is special for this country but we're talking about the health of the players. I don't know how we survived today. Do you think if we demand something it will change? The only power I have is to say it here: Why don't we play tomorrow, when Chelsea, Manchester United and Coventry didn't play in midweek? Why? How am I going to prepare for this game?", questioned the coach.

"We want to play football, we love to play football, but this is too much. We're going to defend our trophy, we're going to be there," he concluded.
