Currently without a club after three seasons in charge of AS Roma, José Mourinho gave an interview to English newspaper The Telegraph. He spoke about the future and what he wants from his next job, while reflecting on why things went wrong at Roma.

"It's not that I'm afraid of jobs in clubs that are not 'ready to win'. When some [managers] reach a certain level, maybe they say: 'I will only have jobs ready to win'. My job is to try to transform clubs into clubs 'ready to win', or to reach certain objectives," said the Portuguese.

Asked about Mourinho's reputation and how that might put some clubs off hiring him, the Portuguese rejected the idea:

"My dream job description - because sometimes we have a job title and another thing is the job description - is 'head coach'," he said. "That's my dream job. To be the coach. To be the guy that works with the team, that focuses on training the players, that prepares the matches," he described.

"Luckily, I had that in my career. Unfortunately, I had other situations where I had to be much more than that. When you are much more than that, you are not as good a coach as you can be. The club puts you in a position where I don't want to be. Do you think that after the Europa League final that we lost, in the circumstances that we lost, I was happy with all the emotion that I felt? Do you think I was happy to be the face of the club going to the press conference to speak about these things? No, I hated to go," he said, referring to refereeing incidents.

"If people are afraid of something [in relation to Mourinho], don't be afraid. Give me a professional structure where I am just the head coach, because that's what I am good at. People say I am good at communicating. Many, many times we say the wrong things. Especially when you communicate three or four times a week. The structure of a club pushes me in the wrong direction," he said.
