The party is already underway at Villas-Boas' campaign headquarters, after Vítor Baía conceded defeat. "Villas-Boas olé" was the reaction of a room full of people in euphoria over the likely victory of the List B candidate, according to the numbers released by television networks counting the votes in FC Porto's most competitive election.

It was a few minutes after 10:30 pm when those present began to sing the first victory chants: "Villas-Boas olé", "Porto" and "Porto is ours" were the most heard words in a room full of people in ecstasy.

No one takes their eyes off the television screens that are following the counting of the 26,741 voters, beating by a large margin the previous record of 10,731 in the 1988 elections, but no one believes in any other outcome.

In the room, many let out a sweaty "it's done", but there were also outbursts from those who did not forget Pinto da Costa's work at the club.

The elections for the FC Porto governing bodies for the 2024-2028 four-year period are being contested by three candidates, led by current president Pinto da Costa (list A), André Villas-Boas (B), former coach of the football team, and Nuno Lobo (C), businessman and professor, also including an independent list for the Superior Council led by Miguel Brás da Cunha (D).

Pinto da Costa has been president for 42 consecutive years, holding the status of the leader with the most titles and longevity in world football.
