Brilliant on the pitch, controversial off it. George Best was considered the 'fifth Beatle', due to his haircut and popularity in the 60s of the last century. Best had an excellent career at Manchester United, winning six titles, one of them a Champions League.
Born in Belfast, George Best is considered the best Northern Irish player in history. The winger was known for his endless feints, in a league that was still dominated by the physical aspect.
He played in countries as far away as South Africa, Australia, the United States, Ireland and Northern Ireland. He was also known for his statements. He said he had spent everything on "gambling, women and alcohol. The rest was all wasted". He died in 2005, due to complications from cirrhosis.
