Manchester City kept their Premier League title hopes alive with a 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Sunday in the closing match of the 35th round.

The goal that made the difference came after 32 minutes, when, after a corner kick taken by captain Kevin de Bruyne, Josko Gvardiol headed the ball into the back of the net, guarded by Matz Sels. This move had the effect of 'awakening' Nuno Espírito Santo's team.

From then on, the Reds had chance after chance to at least restore equality, but either the attention of Ederson (who left injured at half-time) and Stefan Ortega, or the lack of inspiration in the attack (particularly Chris Wood), was 'saving' the Citizens.

It was then that, at 62 minutes, Pep Guardiola took drastic measures, bringing Erling Haaland on for Jack Grealish. This bet proved to be correct, as just nine minutes later, the Norwegian international scored the goal that brought peace of mind.

It should be noted that Bernardo Silva and Matheus Nunes were the only Portuguese players to step onto the City Ground pitch, as Rodrigo Ribeiro did not leave the bench, and Nuno Tavares and Rúben Dias were not even called up.

With this victory, Manchester City now has 79 points, which leaves them in second place, one point behind the leader, Arsenal, who, however, have played one more game. Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, is in 17th place, with 26 points.
