André Villas-Boas made a brief statement to journalists late on Sunday afternoon as he was preparing to leave home for the Estádio do Dragão, where he will watch the Clássico of the 31st round of the I Liga, between FC Porto and Sporting.
As he had stated hours earlier, the new president of the Dragons confirmed that he had already had "a brief conversation" with his predecessor, Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa: "He congratulated me on the election. He invited me to watch the game, but I had already decided to be close to the members, so I thanked him for the invitation".
"Institutionally, things only happen when there is a takeover. Of course, there is a new president-elect, but until the takeover is formalised, we will keep things the same", he said, before addressing the game itself.
"I will live as I always do, as a fan, a member and a great lover of FC Porto. Gradually, I will have a full sense of the responsibilities that lie ahead and correspond to the gratitude of the fans towards me", he added.
