John Textor reveals he tried to "steal" Abel Ferreira from Palmeiras
American businessman does not spare the compliments to the Portuguese coach.

John Textor, Botafogo's majority shareholder, gave an extensive interview to the club's official platforms this Sunday, in which he did not spare in the compliments woven to Palmeiras' coach, the Portuguese Abel Ferreira.
Questioned about the criticism he was targeted by the president of the São Paulo team, Leila Pereira, (who has even called him an "idiot" and "crazy"), the North American businessman devalued it. Instead, he revealed that he had even tried to "steal" the former coach of Sporting de Braga, whose quality he recognizes.
"I'm not offended. I think she's offending me, if that's what you want to know. What do I think about it? I've made it clear countless times that no one from Palmeiras did anything wrong," began by stating the man who tried to buy a 'slice' of Benfica.
"I have praised their coach, Abel Ferreira, countless times. I love him as a man and as a person. I tried to steal him from them, silently, in the past. He never listened to me. For jobs elsewhere, not here," he added.
According to the television station ESPN, John Textor's goal was to take Abel Ferreira to Olympique Lyon or Crystal Palace. However, the Portuguese coach, who has a valid contract until December 2025, has always opted to remain at Verdão.
