"When Cristiano Ronaldo passed me I thought 'F***', I was just sweating"
Liechtenstein forward recalled the game against Portugal in Alvalade (4-0), in the first match of the qualification for Euro'2024.

Dennis Salanovic gave an interview to the 'Footy Culture' podcast on Monday, giving an account of the two games in which Liechtenstein faced Portugal in the qualifying phase for Euro 2024, with defeats by 4-0 in Alvalade and 2-0 in Vaduz.
“My idol was and still is Cristiano Ronaldo. I remember we played against him in March last year as well, but I got injured that time, so I only saw him near the dressing rooms after the game. I was nervous like any player. I have played against many great players. When he passed me in that corridor, I was like, ‘F***.’ I was just sweating," he began by saying in statements quoted in SportsKeeda.
“My knees were shaking and I thought, ‘What the hell is this?’. I wanted to talk to him and I couldn’t speak. However, the second time, in November, I was able to play and I had one of the best experiences of my career so far," added the York United FC forward.
"Another thing I admire is that he doesn’t care who the opponent is, even if it’s a small country, with no expression, like ours. Cristiano Ronaldo is really dedicated and you can see it on his face. I remember he even got upset with some of our players because we were annoying him or trying to take him down, but then he scored and was happy again," he added.
