Gustavo Sá on display against Benfica. Famalicão 'rubbing their hands'

Gustavo Sá is emerging as Famalicão's next big sale, a club that is preparing to host Benfica next Sunday, in the 32nd round of the I League and which could make Sporting... the champion. The 19-year-old midfielder has been one of the most prominent players in the Famalicão squad this season, having already been called up to the national under-21 team, and continues to be on the radar of the eagles, lions and dragons.

Even so, according to information gathered by Desporto ao Minuto, Benfica, Sporting and FC Porto are not the only clubs paying attention to Sá's progress in Vila Nova de Famalicão. The midfielder from Póvoa de Varzim has also motivated approaches from clubs in Germany and Italy, and Famalicão is already 'rubbing its hands' for next summer.

With a contract until 2027 and protected by a termination clause of 50 million euros, Famalicão's management admits the possibility of selling when the transfer market opens, but only for a very significant amount, Desporto ao Minuto has learned.

Miguel Ribeiro, president of Famalicão's SAD, made this position very clear on Wednesday night.

"If Famalicão receives an offer within what Gustavo Sá represents... He has a termination clause of 50 million euros, if they meet the clause, I guarantee he will leave", explained the manager, on Canal 11, admitting that this is a more special case for the club because it will serve as a reference for Famalicão's training.

Eye-catching performance at Dragão

Against Benfica, Gustavo Sá will once again be in the spotlight a few weeks after shining in Famalicão's visit to FC Porto, at Estádio do Dragão. The young Portuguese player only played for 65 minutes, but he was responsible for the assist for Cádiz's goal, which led the Famalicão team to win the interval.

Included in the Golden Boy list

Gustavo Sá's name appeared, in April, in 83rd place among the young players nominated for this year's Golden Boy 2024, drawn up by the newspaper TuttoSport together with Football Benchmark.

Brief stint at FC Porto

Despite having done most of his training at Famalicão, Gustavo Sá spent three years at FC Porto, passing through Dragon Force, before heading to Vila Nova de Famalicão... to stay.

Decisive in scoring... and assisting

At this point, with 28 games played out of 34 possible, Gustavo Sá is on the podium of the top scorers, with three accurate shots, only behind his colleagues Chiquinho (5) and Jhonder Cádiz (16).

In terms of assists, he is tied with Puma Rodríguez, both with four passes for a goal, and is just one away from equaling Francisco Moura (5).
