19 years later, Alverca is back in professional championships
Triumph over Sporting da Covilhã sealed promotion to League II.

Futebol Clube de Alverca stamped, at the end of this Sunday morning, the qualification for the II League, thanks to the triumph conquered in the trip to Estádio Municipal José dos Santos Pinto, facing Sporting da Covilhã, by 0-2.
The party for João Pereira's men started to be drawn at the 37th minute, with the goal by João Costa, and it was made easier at the 72nd, with the expulsion of Pedro Casagrande, due to accumulation of yellow cards. The 'final blow' would appear five minutes after the 90th, through Pedro Jesus.
Alverca now has 27 points, which left it in the highlighted leadership of the League 3 champion qualification phase, with a six-point advantage over Sporting de Braga B, and seven over Felgueiras and Lusitânia de Lourosa, when there are two more rounds to play.
The last time the ribatejanos played in the professional echelons of Portuguese football, it is worth remembering, was in 2004/05, when, despite having mathematically guaranteed their permanence, they were unable to register for the following season, due to financial reasons.
The next challenge is to guarantee the title of League 3 champion, which could happen next weekend, with a draw against Académica being enough, or a 'slip' by Sporting de Braga B, in Felgueiras.
