"Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi can't stand each other"

Jamie Carragher, former Liverpool captain, gave an extensive interview to the British website Football365, in which he reflected on the 'eternal' rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, 'stars' he faced during his football career.
"It's unbelievable the amount of Golden Balls they both won, considering they were competing with each other. Normally, if someone won the Golden Ball two or three times, they were an absolute god. These two won it five, six and seven times," he began by saying.
"You would think 'If Ronaldo wasn't here, Messi would probably have won the Golden Ball 12 times'. I've never seen anyone with the longevity at the top of those two. Maybe someone can reach their level for two or three years, but I don't think we'll ever see anyone do it for as long as they did," he continued.
"They didn't want to lose trophies like the Golden Ball to each other. That was always the big rivalry for them, every season. They definitely made each other better, but they probably can't enjoy it until they finish. While they're playing, I bet they can't stand each other," he added.
