Al Hilal took a 'giant' step towards winning the Saudi Arabian championship title on Monday night, thanks to their 1-2 triumph away to Al-Ahli Jeddah at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium.
It was a tough match for the team coached by Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus, who found themselves at a disadvantage after 30 minutes when Firas Al-Buraikan put the ball in the back of the net, following a move in which the opposing goalkeeper, Yassine Bono, did not look good at all. The response would come right at the start of the second half. Malcom carried out a fine individual move and assisted the inevitable Alekandar Mitrovic. In the 89th minute, the Brazilian international completed the 'comeback', with an assist from Rúben Neves. With this result, Al Hilal now has 86 points, which keeps them in isolated leadership of the table, with a 12-point advantage over the second-placed team, Al Nassr, managed by Luís Castro and featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Otávio. This means that the Riyadh-based team only needs to win one more point to celebrate. Al-Ahli, on the other hand, is in third place with 55 points, with only four more rounds to go until the end of the current season.

Lineups

Al-Ahli: Mendy; Ibañez, Demiral, Hindi, Al-Ammar; Kessié, Al-Johani; Mahrez, Saint-Maximin, Roberto Firmino and Al-Buraikan.

Al Hilal: Bono; Saud, Koulibaly, Al Bulayihi, Lodi; Rúben Neves, Milinkovic-Savic; Malcom, Michael and Mitrovic.

Preview

Al Hilal will travel to the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium late on Monday afternoon to catch up on their fixtures. They will face Al-Ahli Jeddah in a match postponed from the 28th round of the Saudi Arabian championship, which could be crucial in the title race.

If they win, the team coached by Portuguese managers Jorge Jesus and Rúben Neves will increase their advantage over the second-placed team, Al Nassr, managed by Luís Castro and featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Otávio, to 12 points, with only... 12 points left to play for.

However, victory is not guaranteed, as their opponents from Riyadh are not only in third place in the table, but also have 'heavyweights' such as Roberto Firmino and Riyad Mahrez in their squad.

The Al-Ahli Jeddah-Al Hilal match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 pm (mainland Portugal time), and you can follow it live on Desporto ao Minuto.
