Roger Schmidt's permanence causes 'split' within Benfica
German coach has less and less support in SAD and social bodies. Even so, there are those in the professional football structure who defend continuity.

In addition, within the structure of the eagles, those who defend Schmidt's departure at the end of the season are growing visibly... but also those who want the German to stay to fulfill his contract until June 2026.
According to the newspaper A Bola this Tuesday, the coach's departure at the end of the season is, at this moment and still, unlikely, but not impossible. Also because within the football structure there are those who wanted Schmidt to stay.
Schmidt's continuity is even a taboo. If in the SAD and social bodies of Benfica there are few defenders of the German, in the structure of professional football there are still those who, with power, understand that the coach should continue.
Despite the fact that the team reached the quarter-finals of a European competition for the second time, Schmidt's divorce with the fans and the negative relationship with some players - many of them dissatisfied with the German's options and work methods - can make the coach 'fall' at the end of the season. The decision is up to Rui Costa.
