After having been relegated last season, the Azoreans may return for their ninth season in the top tier, leading the II Liga with 67 points, two more than Nacional and four more than AVS, with Marítimo, in fourth, with 60.

A triumph in Mafra, on Sunday, ensures promotion to Santa Clara, a result that could even guarantee the title of champion of the second tier, if Nacional does not win in Tondela on the same day.

Santa Clara could even enter the field in Mafra with promotion already assured, if AVS, who plays earlier, does not win on the Leixões ground.

A result other than the triumph of the team that plays in Vila das Aves can also allow Nacional to ensure promotion with a triumph -- with a draw by AVS, Nacional rises with a tie, if Marítimo also does not win at home to Oliveirense.

With a triumph, AVS ensures, at least, the play-off, whatever the result of Marítimo, as long as Nacional wins. Otherwise, AVS always has to do better than Marítimo.

In the fight for maintenance, Belenenses, 17th and penultimate positioned, has to beat Benfica B, on Friday, and hope that Feirense, 16th, does not triumph on the Torreense ground, the following day.

The 'blues' can only 'escape' relegation via play-off, but they have to win the two remaining games and hope that Feirense does not win any. With a triumph and a draw, Belenenses rises to 16th if the 'fogaceiros' do not score again.

Six points from Feirense, Länk Vilaverdense has already seen the relegation of the division confirmed, since it will lose a point at the end of the season, for salary issues.

The disciplinary regulations of the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) provide that "the penalty of subtracting points is applied to the final classification obtained in the current sports season on the date on which the decision to apply it becomes enforceable".
