Footballer Victória Leite expects a "very competitive" match with Poland, in the last round of Group B of the European U-17 Championship, which the Portuguese team needs to win to qualify for the semi-finals.

After the defeat in the debut against Spain, by 3-0, Portugal won 1-0 against Belgium, thanks to a goal scored by Mélanie Florentino, 90+3 minutes, and Victória Leite did not hide her confidence in obtaining a new triumph, despite the difficulties she anticipates in the match with the Polish.
"I feel that it will be a very competitive game, very strong between the two teams. They have a much higher status than us, they are physically stronger, we have our game, our quality, our intelligence and I know that we will be strong and we will be able to win", she pointed out.
Despite not yet having been used in the final phase of the tournament, which takes place in Sweden, the 16-year-old defender of Sporting de Braga promised to "give everything for the team" if the coach Carlos Sacadura "gives her the opportunity".
Victória Leite highlighted the union that exists between the Portuguese players, necessary to counteract the favoritism of the Polish - who have already been crowned European champions, in 2013 -, in the match of the third and final day, on Sunday, in Malmö.
Portugal is playing in the tournament for the third time, after participating in 2014, in England, which left without any victory, and 2019, in Bulgaria, where it reached the semi-finals, in which it was eliminated by Germany, record holder of titles, with eight trophies, and the great absentee in Sweden.
The national team can repeat this feat and the way it beat Belgium served to motivate the Portuguese footballers: "It was a fantastic moment, we believed that the goal would happen, we were right on top of the game, it was magnificent, all of us celebrating and I know that Portugal was proud", observed the defender.
Spain, which beat Poland in the second round, 1-0, has already ensured that it will finish in first place in the group and will 'fulfill the schedule' on Sunday, against Belgium, which seems destined to finish in last place.
The 2024 European Championship has the allure of serving as a qualification for the U-17 World Championship, which will take place later this year, in the Dominican Republic, between October 16 and November 03, a privilege of the two finalists and the third classified.
