Benfica B confirmed, this Friday, the direct relegation of Belenenses to Liga 3, after having sealed a comeback (2-3) at Estádio do Restelo, in the penultimate round of Liga 2. The return of one of the historic Portuguese sports teams to professional football ended up being rather short, having run out of mathematical possibilities of reaching Feirense in the third-to-last position, in a playoff position. After half an hour without goals, Rúben Pina converted a penalty into a goal, at 35 minutes, followed by the 2-0 scored by Ricardo Matos, at 42 minutes, leaving the blue team of Restelo feeding the dream of staying in the league. However, the tranquillity gave way to a nightmare and, even before half-time, Bajrami came forward to reduce the eagles' disadvantage, at 44 minutes. In the second half, Nélson Veríssimo's double substitution had the desired effect, since, at 63 minutes, the coach saw his team reach the equaliser, with a magnificent goal from Hugo Félix, in an unstoppable free kick. Belenenses felt the weight of the goal and, at 73 minutes, Henrique Pereira scored the comeback goal, pressuring the Restelo team to react. There were no shortage of opportunities, it is true, but Benfica B also came close to finishing the game with a fourth goal, namely with a shot from Henrique Pereira that hit the post in stoppage time. With this result, Belenenses remain with the same 26 points in the penultimate place, four behind Feirense (when there are only three points left to play for) and with three more than the bottom-placed Lank Vilaverdense, while Benfica B are 11th, with 42 points.
