Defender Eric Garcia opened the scoring for the visitors after just four minutes, but the midfielder equalised in the 12th, after an assist from Argentine Giuliano Simeone.

Before half-time, Venezuelan Yangel Herrera put the Catalan team back in front, who managed to maintain the advantage on the scoreboard until the injury time, with Guridi scoring the equaliser in the dying seconds.

With the draw, Girona - who had three consecutive wins - remain in second place in La Liga, with 75 points, while their opponents have 42 and are in 11th place.

Real Madrid have already mathematically secured the Spanish football championship title for the 36th time, with FC Barcelona in third place, with 73 points.
