Eliana Bandeira is crowned Ibero-American champion in shot put
Portuguese athlete Eliana Bandeira has today been crowned Ibero-American shot put champion, after winning the final of the discipline of the Ibero-American Athletics Championships taking place in Cuiabá, Brazil, with a mark of 18.30 metres.

"To be able to throw above 18 meters has a great significance in an Olympic year. We have been trying to achieve the direct qualification mark [18.80 meters], but this result is very important for the world ranking", she admitted, quoted by the Portuguese Athletics Federation.
Born in Brazil, the Portuguese athlete is happy to continue the "pursuit of the dream" for the Portuguese nationality and to "reciprocate" with victories like this one, in this case the second gold in this edition of the Ibero-American Championships for Portugal, after Francisco Belo, also in the shot put.
Besides, Omar Elkhatib won the first semi-final of the 400 meters, with 46.20 seconds, and will compete in the final, on Sunday morning, unlike Ricardo dos Santos (47.07).
Lorene Bazolo will also be in the final of the 200 meters, after being second in the first semi-final, with a time of 23.19 seconds, while Lurdes Oliveira (24.55) was left behind.
In the men's competition, Delvis Santos (20.90) will also compete in the final of the 200 meters, with Rafael Jorge (21.04) out, and two more Portuguese athletes will be in the final of the 110 meters hurdles, Abdel Larrinaga (13.95) and João Vitor Oliveira (13.92).
