Portugal draws in Bosnia and confirms presence at the Handball World Cup
Victory in the 1st leg, in Guimarães, decisive in the playoff for access to the World Championship that will take place in January 2025.

The national team confirmed, this Sunday, access to the final phase of the 2025 World Cup, after beating Bosnia in a two-legged playoff. After a victory in the 1st leg (29-19), the team traveled to Bosnia to draw (26-26). Thus, the sixth Portuguese presence (1997, 2001, 2003, 2021, 2023, and 2025) in a world championship is assured.
Portugal started better in Tuzla, reaching halftime with a four-goal advantage, but in the second half, they took their foot off the gas and ended up allowing a draw. However, the ten-goal advantage obtained in Guimarães, on Thursday, was decisive for qualifying Portugal for the World Cup.
It should be noted that the 2025 World Cup will take place between January 14 and 29, 2025, in Croatia, Denmark, and Norway. The draw is scheduled for May 29, in Croatia.
