"We are confident in our team's ability. We have fought hard to be here and we have achieved that goal. Now it is time to enjoy what is to come, it will be a unique experience. The ultimate goal is to win, to be champions, to honor our country and our families," said the FC Porto player in statements to the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) website.

And it was the 'blue and white' defender himself who justified this confidence, in the competition that Portugal has won twice, in 2003 and 2016 and will be played between May 20 and June 05.

"We are a team with many strengths. We have several 'weapons' that we can use on the pitch. We are very focused on what we can do, we know our worth and that is what we have to focus on to face this competition," he stressed.

Later, Martim Costa did not hide his enthusiasm for being part of this working group.

"It is an incredible experience, a childhood dream come true. I am very proud to be able to represent my country and my family in a competition of this caliber. I still have a short career, but I want to represent all Portuguese people, especially the people who have been following and supporting me," he concluded.

The Portuguese under-17 team started their preparation work today at the City of Football, in Oeiras, where they will remain until next Friday, the day of the trip to Cyprus, where the 2024 European Championship will be held.

The Portuguese team will face the teams of France, Spain and England in Group D, with the first game against the Spanish, on May 21, the second, on the 24th, against the English, and the last of the group stage, on the 27th, against France.

The first two classifieds of each group in competition will qualify for the quarter-finals, scheduled for May 29 and 30, with the semi-finals scheduled for June 02 and the final for June 05.
