"Circumstances prevented Cristiano Ronaldo from doing more at United"
Juan Mata admits he thought the Red Devils could "win the Premier League again" with the Portugal international.

Juan Mata has given an extensive interview to the latest edition of British magazine FourFourTwo, in which he revealed that he delayed saying 'goodbye' to Manchester United by a year when he was told Cristiano Ronaldo was returning in the summer of 2021.
"After so many years at the club, it would have been tough to leave and then Manchester United win the Premier League. I didn't want to miss that. I dreamed of celebrating a league title at Old Trafford," admitted the Spain international, who would eventually leave for Galatasaray the following year.
"I thought we could win the Premier League again. He had such high standards that he would drag everyone else with him. I always thought that when you get to 80 minutes in a game, the ball has to go to him," he continued.
"He always appeared in the decisive moments. However, the circumstances around him meant that we didn't have enough quality minutes in that second season. I connected with Cristiano, having many conversations. He is a much closer person than people think," he added.
