Maradona's Golden Ball from the 1986 World Cup will be auctioned for "millions"
The Golden Ball that Diego Maradona won after Argentina won the 1986 World Cup, which was missing for decades, will be auctioned in June, and the auction house expects a sale for "millions of euros".

According to Maximilien Aguttes, sales manager for the Aguttes auction house, based in Neuilly-sur-Seine, "it is difficult to put a price" on the object, expecting "several million euros to be paid".
Aguttes' statements today to the EFE news agency point to a record sale in the football sector, for a Ballon d'Or that was considered lost for three decades until it was purchased in 2016 by a collector.
Aguttes expects a lot of interest in the auction on 6 June for this "work of art" and speculates that it could even exceed the 9.2 million euros paid at a Sotheby's auction in May 2022 for the shirt that Maradona wore against England in that same World Cup.
The Ballon d'Or for the best player in that tournament appeared in a photograph with Maradona in the magazine France Football, and in 2016 it was used by the collector to ensure the authenticity of the object, whose disappearance has yet to be explained.
The Argentine Diego Maradona, considered one of the best footballers of all time, died in November 2020, and the family has already allowed the three years stipulated by French law to recover an object that has been declared lost, in this case the Ballon d'Or, to expire.
